What Happened to CeeLo Green
CeeLo Green – What Happened to CeeLo Green?
Ceelo Green is a multi-talented artist who has done so much in his life. He’s a singer, songwriter, actor, and record producer. He’s also a former coach on The Voice.
He’s competed on Lip Sync Battle, appeared on the British version of The Masked Singer, and released a number of albums.
1. He quit The Voice
Green was a coach on the NBC reality show The Voice for seasons one through three and season five. He told Ellen DeGeneres on Wednesday that he will not be returning to the competition.
Previously, Green had been part of the music group Goodie Mob. The group’s first two albums, World Party and Age Against the Machine, were both gold-certified but did not sell as well as their biggest hit, F-You.
In addition to his musical career, Green has ventured into television and film. He has appeared on shows such as Parenthood and American Dad, hosted his own talk show, CeeLo Green’s The Good Life, and starred in the 2012 movie Sparkle. He also provided the voice for Murray the Mummy in the animated film Hotel Transylvania.
2. He was arrested for ecstasy possession
A woman claimed that the singer slipped her Ecstasy in her drink at a restaurant in 2012. She said that she then woke up naked in his bed. The DA dropped the rape charge, but Green was charged with felony furnishing of ecstasy.
TMZ reports that the woman had a tape that she turned over to police that recorded Cee Lo talking about ecstasy. The DA says that this is sufficient evidence for the felony drug charge.
The singer has been released from jail because of overcrowding, but he will likely be placed on probation for this incident. He is best known for his work as part of the soul duo Gnarls Barkley and as a member of the bands Goodie Mob and Dungeon Family.
3. He was fired from The Voice
CeeLo Green has decided to leave The Voice after appearing in four of the show’s seasons. He revealed his decision during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres that will air Wednesday. He said he will not return to the show as a regular coach, but he will remain as a “battle adviser” on Adam Levine’s team.
The Voice first premiered in 2011 and has been a hit for NBC. The show features a group of professional artists who compete to be the best mentors for contestants. The show has had many famous coaches including Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Usher, and Shakira.
During his time on the show, Green was involved in an ecstasy-related incident in 2012. A woman accused him of drugging her drink during dinner and that led to sex. She claimed the encounter was consensual, but prosecutors did not charge him with rape. He did, however, receive probation and community service.
4. He was accused of sexual assault
In 2012, a woman accused Cee Lo Green of sexually assaulting her. She claimed that he slipped her ecstasy while they were out for dinner and that she woke up naked in his bed, unaware of how she got there. Fortunately for Green, the woman failed to provide any evidence, so prosecutors didn’t press rape charges.
The Gnarls Barkley singer pleaded no contest to one felony drug charge and received probation and community service. Afterwards, he made some controversial comments about rape and consent on Twitter that have since been deleted. “If someone is passed out they’re not even WITH you consciously! So WITH implies consent!” he wrote. “People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!” he added. “Sorry if I hurt anyone.” The tweets sparked backlash and caused Green to delete his entire Twitter account.
5. He was accused of stealing a horse
Cee Lo Green, whose real name is Thomas Callaway, first gained fame as one half of the chart-topping duo Gnarls Barkley. He also became a judge on the popular TV competition show The Voice.
In addition to his music career, Green has appeared in several television shows and movies. He has even done some voice work, including voicing Prime Cut Miggity Mo’ Macdaddy Gizzabang Doggy Dog Dog on Class of 3000 and a character in the animated movie Robot Chicken.
Recently, Green came under fire from animal rights defenders PETA for riding a horse to a party. The singer defended his actions by explaining that he thought it would be funny and grand to make an entrance on horseback. He further argued that the horse was nervous around all the flashes and noise at the venue.
