Lara Burkett is a South African journalist. She is a war correspondent for radio and television.

She graduated from Durban Girls’ College, received a degree in commerce from the University of Natal, and gained a diploma in French language, culture, and history from the Alliance Francaise in Paris.

She worked as a news reporter for the Durban Sunday Tribune (1988-1989) and the Daily News (1990-1992). She also worked as a senior producer for Reuters television in Africa.

Her Life

Lara Logan was born on March 29, 1971, in Durban, South Africa. She attended Durban Girls’ College for her high school years, and graduated with a degree in commerce from the University of Natal in Durban, South Africa, in 1992.

She was married twice: first to Jason Siemon, an Iowan professional basketball player; and then to Joseph Burkett, a US government defense contractor from Texas. She has two children from this marriage, Lola and Joseph, and they live in Washington, D.C.

Despite her career, Logan has always been very close to her family. She and her husband decided to move to a small town in Texas after Logan’s son was diagnosed with severe learning disabilities. Eventually, she landed a role on the sitcom Welcome to Flatch. She plays Cheryl, a reporter who travels to the fictional town of Flatch with her film crew to cover its residents and daily life. She’s a very funny person and her fans love her.

Her Dances

Lola was a show hound at heart, so it’s no surprise that she was in the know about the plethora of dances her company had to offer. She was also in the know when it came to putting on a great show. Her dancing credentials include an impressive array of trophies, a bevy of glittery feathers and a couple of nippers to boot. She was the undisputed queen of the nightclub, a role that she took on with aplomb for the better part of a decade.

Her Relationships

Lara Logan is a married woman and has been in a relationship with defense contractor Joseph Burkett since 2008. Their kids are called Lola Burkett, nine years old, and Joseph Burkett, four.

She is a war correspondent for CBS news and has covered many dangerous places in the world. She has gone through some disturbing experiences such as when she was raped by a mob while covering the Arab Spring protests in Egypt in 2011.

Her husband, Joseph Burkett, is a U.S. government defense contractor who has a daughter from his previous marriage.

He was divorced from his first wife in January 2008 after dealing with many problems in their marriage. He also had a troubled relationship with his mother and her son. He also had to deal with his ex-wife’s constant requests for a divorce.

Her Death

Lara Burkett died on June 12, 2022 after being found unresponsive in a tent where she was living with her fiance Lewis Burke. She was just 28 years old and died after being on quetiapine, a drug used to treat mental health conditions such as depression and schizophrenia.

A coroner for North Wales East and Central has said that she was suffering from a ‘decline’ in her mental health before she passed away. She was also taking a drug called quetiapine, which is often prescribed to people who are depressed or suffering from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

Logan was a news reporter and editor/producer who worked at CBS News. She left the station in August of 2018.
