She would often take drugs to get through the day and was caught in an inescapable trap. She tried to break out of this cycle but it was too late. She died in 2002 from a heroin overdose.
Jerry Cantrell, a member of the grunge band, Alice in Chains, took on a bigger role after Staley’s death and continued to perform with the group. He was also involved in some side projects, including a collaboration with Mark Lanegan of Screaming Trees and Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready.
He grew up as an avid music fan and he was known to listen to Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Metallica, The Stooges, Saxon, Judas Priest and Twisted Sister at a young age. He had a love of the song Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head by B.J Thomas, and was known to sing it at every opportunity.
