Abou “Bu” Thiam
Born on March 25, 1982 in New Jersey, Bu Thiam is a certified Hit-Maker, visionary A&R music executive, international philanthropist/venture capitalist, entrepreneur, and TV personality (MTV’s “Hip Hop POV” and Oxygen Network’s “Like a Boss”). He’s also the younger brother of multiplatinum R&B singer Akon.
He was introduced to the music industry by his father – legendary drummer Mor Thiam. After hearing his father’s advice from a young age, he decided to pursue a career in music.
His first big business opportunity was handling A&R for his brother – award-winning singer, songwriter, and record producer Akon. During this time, he was able to branch out and help launch the careers of Lady Gaga, T-Pain, and Jeremih.
Today, he works as Columbia Records’ Executive Vice President of A&R and strategic initiatives. His duties at the label encompass a wide range of genres, including pop and rap.
Khady Thiam Gueye
Akon might be one of the world’s most successful musicians, but he couldn’t have done it without his sister Khady Thiam Gueye. The younger sibling is the founder of her own consulting firm called True Media Independence Worldwide, a company she built from scratch.
With over a decade of experience as a music industry consultant, she has been an integral team member of several businesses and large-scale international projects. She also has a master’s degree in Entrepreneurship.

Omar Thiam
A sleuthy chap by the name of Omar Thiam was arrested and charged with one count of the criminal solicitation of a minor.
