The Expendables

Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables is a mediocre film. But, it’s still better than most straight-to-DVD action movies.

Barney Ross (Stallone) leads a crew of mercenaries in this action movie. Their first mission was to rescue a group of hostages from Somali pirates. The Expendables are later sent on another mission by CIA operative Mr. Church.

As they are about to reach the destination of their second mission, they’re ambushed by international criminal and arms dealer Jean Vilain and his mercenary group, the Sangs. After killing his protega(c) they realize that Villain has five tons of weapons grade plutonium that he intends to sell to the highest bidder.

When Barney discovers that his team is getting too old to continue taking these risks, he recruits a younger, fresher crew. He also takes a chance on MMA fighter Ronda Rousey, who’s an interesting addition to the Expendables.
