Syreeta Wright, the wife of soul music legend Stevie Wonder, died on Monday after a long struggle with cancer. She was 58 and suffered from congestive heart failure after undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments for breast and bone cancers.
A Pittsburg native, she had a singing career before she met Wonder in 1968. Motown boss Berry Gordy considered replacing Diana Ross in the Supremes with her, but she opted for a solo career instead.
