Andrew Wiggins was born on February 23, 1995 in Thornhill, Ontario
He is the youngest of five children. He is the son of former NBA player Mitchell Wiggins and former Olympic track-and-field sprinter Marita Payne-Wiggins.
He grew up in the Thornhill area of Vaughan, Ontario. He began playing basketball at age nine, and has never looked back.
